Restoration Complete

I found a short note that I wrote while I was considering blogging, a completely new concept for me, and am adding it here to complete this blog story.  I hope you enjoy the addition.

For decades my family’s home was a beautiful farm near Frankston Texas. In 2005, a devastating fire burned our farmhouse nearly to the ground. One cherished treasure—a massive Perúvian teak cabinet filled with artifacts—miraculously survived. The artifacts inside were all salvaged unharmed. With our family’s help, my husband and I rebuilt our Spur Ridge Ranch house back in 2006 and it was our family's “home base and gathering place” for many more years.

My daughter, the very gifted artist Teresa Macorke, has created a pair of paintings that melt my heart; they now hang on either side of that restored teak cabinet. Her paintings depict tender scenes that capture so many of my emotions about our time in Perú, and they seem to me to—finally!—complete the cabinet's resurrection from the fire. Together, the paintings and the cabinet will remind me every day of my daughter's gifts and some of the best parts of my life.

Her sense of minute details, and surprising facial expressions is amazing. These will look great hanging on either side of a large teak cabinet in my new home in Houston.
